Alexander McQueen F/W 09

I realize I don't post about menswear often, but I really do love it. It can be just as exciting as the women's collections. Gentlemen, this is definitely a "do." Get into it.

work life.

Just another Tuesday afternoon at The Collective. Nate & some of the other guys built a fort out of Gibson guitar boxes with a sign that read "No Girls Allowed." The girls on the music side took over & we ended up with the above. Work life.

Just Let Dylan Guide You

Someone sent me this article today. I don't know about you, but I'd be down to have Bob Dylan guide me on my adventures.

Bob Dylan could soon voice sat nav systems
Bob Dylan could soon be directing drivers down Highway 61as car giants frantically bid to sign him up as the new voice of their sat nav systems

Bob Dylan, the singer-songwriter who has taken his fans down Highway 61 by way of Lonely Avenue and Desolation Row, is in negotiations to voice a satellite navigation system.

The music star claimed that he has been approached by more than one manufacturer keen to harness his unmistakeable, rasping tones - a voice which one critic memorably likened to sandpaper. He shared the news with listeners to his late-night radio show, Theme Time Radio Hour, which is broadcast on BBC Six Music.

“You know I don’t usually like to tell people what I’m doing, but I’m talking to a couple of car companies about the possibility of being the voice of their GPS system,” he disclosed.

Motorists who follow Dylan’s directions, however, may take some time to reach their destination. “I think it would be good if you are looking for directions and you heard my voice saying something like, ‘Left at the next street.... No, right... You know what? Just go straight." He added: "I probably shouldn’t do it because whichever way I go, I always end up at one place - Lonely Avenue.”

Dylan, 66, would not be the first celebrity to lend his voice to a GPS system. TomTom, the sat-nav manufacturer, currently offers the voices of Homer Simpson and John Cleese, while Kim Cattrall, the Sex and the City actress, and The A Team actor Mr T are also popular among British motorists.

Several websites offer impersonations of celebrity voices for download, with Sean Connery, Ozzy Osbourne and David Hasselhoff among the favourites for drivers who consider the computerised sat-nav tones to be on the boring side.

Eddie Izzard, the comedian, offers his own set of directions, which include phrases such as: “For God’s sake, turn left!” and “Bear left, monkey right.”

This would not be Dylan’s first foray into the commercial world. Earlier this year, he surprised many of his fans by allowing his music to be used in a television advert. Blowin’ In The Wind, his 1963 anthem, was featured in a commercial for the Co-operative Group.

The singer, who has sold more than 70 million albums during his career, recently topped the UK chart with his latest album, Together Thru Life.

Mad Men Screen Shot Spoilers

I don't know how many of you watched Mad Men this past Sunday, but it was great. We indulged in Tom Collins & yelled at the screen & let out a big sigh of relief that Sundays once again had meaning - beyond marking the end of another weekend.
Itunes accidentally posted an episode not set to air for a couple weeks. Included below are some screen shots. First we see a Jane v. Joan confrontation - YES. A fabulous garden party for Derby Day & Ms. Peggy Olson inhaling.

thanks mashable.

temple house

Went straight to the Temple house after work last night. That house holds such warmth. People hiding in rooms, sipping wine while looking at old photos; friends joining conversations by leaning in open windows; music constantly playing in the background; the welcome patio of big chairs and Christmas lights. When the girls move out at the end of this month, in search of their own spaces, it will certainly be the end of an era.
A lot is getting ready to change & I'm not quite sure how I feel about it all.
3 cars full of great people drove out to Detroit Bar last night to support Luke & catch a little Dawes. I was definitely asleep in the car by 1230. Thanks to Martin for being a good dj on the drive home. In my sleepy haze, I managed to make note of a couple of bands I'd forgotten about until then & am excited to revisit them at work today.

to do:

See Luke McMaster & The Romany Rye. He's playing again with Dawes at The Echo this Wednesday. It's free if you're 21 & definitely worth the trip. You deserve a night out - a little fun, some good music, I can tell.

catch a falling star & put it in your pocket

There's a rumor going around that there will be another chance to view the Perseid meteor shower this evening. Last night, I stood outside my little house & tried my best to view it to no avail. I will stand outside again tonight, in hopes of witnessing it & taking advantage of all those wishes.

Phazes For The Young , Julian's debut 8-song solo full length, comes out later this fall & I'm quite interested in checking it out.

day dreaming

Alayna posted a status update this afternoon about wanting a house with a porch & a yard; a yard that was bigger than the house. Coincidentally, I've been day dreaming about that a lot lately. Staying outside past sunset with friends and/or family; soft blankets laid out on the grass, or large over-sized chairs on the porch. Maybe all that hgtv is getting to me. I think there's a piece of all of us that would like to imagine that as a part of life eventually, especially during this season. Here are some pretty outdoor spaces I've come across:

German Vogue, Sept 09

Anja looks so great on the cover of the Sept German Vogue. This is one of those models who somehow always comes off so poised. I think one of my favorite campaigns that Anja's appeared in will always be the Chloe '07 ads with Shalom Harlow & Freja Beha Erichsen
