(that designer that everyone's been talking about)

Christophe Decarnin for BALMAIN.
Yes, I too am simultaneously in LOVE and sick of hearing about the fabulous Spring 09 Collection.
Bring on the rounded shoulders, the fitted but not entirely skinny jeans and strappy studded stilettos.

(p.s. I promise to have some picture updates of my real life and what I've been up to soon, I've been relatively mellow lately-for me, but judging by this week & next week's schedule, I'm coming back w a vengeance!)

(& a special p.s. to sara...seeee, i told you, I need some light, distressed jeans!)

shoulda coulda woulda

This weekend came & went in a fury.  I'm so disappointed that I forgot to bring my barely-hanging-in-there camera for any of the excursions.  I watched The Fling at prospector, met loads of ridiculous people, including a gay man who leads the worship service at his church and wanted to discuss fashion and his love life woes with me.  Originally I had thought it a very good idea to include DP in our conversation, assuming I was being a good little match maker...not so much.  It didn't take long for the crazy to come out in him & attempting to dodge anyone in that small bar is like attempting to hide a martini from karen walker.  Among other adventures, a group of us enjoyed the Party on 4th street last night, filtering in and out of hipster crowded stores, enjoying the free booze, art and music.  It was the first time I attended the event & it was a lot of fun.  It's the last Saturday of every month, starting at 6pm and something every good Long Beach-er should experience.

In other news-

Tina Fey is my most favorite Sarah Palin, ever.  In fact if mccain could swap the real Sarah for her, I might reconsider my vote.  Ok probably not, but it would definitely make me think twice.

MFW, amazing.  The collections that have been shown just keep getting better.

little black dresses

Tomorrow night, one of my dearest friends, Sara Bauer is having her very first art show at the Little Black Dress Charity Event.  It's being hosted at "The Sunset" (8750 W Sunset Blvd.) in West Hollywood from 7pm-9pm.  Cocktails and hors d' oeuvres will be served.  I attended last weeks opening ceremony and it was a lot of fun.  If you're free, I urge you to stop by and enjoy all they have to offer-specifically the free booze & Sara's wonderful art.

jenni kayne gets it.

Not only have I found myself lusting after Jenny's FW collection but I was also delighted to  notice that she had all of her models walk the runway sporting the awesome pineapple bun I've been pushing for acceptance for some time now. ha.  If you haven't seen this collection you should, it's niiice.

the lazy sunday, birthday afternoon

It feels as if every week for the past month or so there have been 2 celebrations a week-minimum.
Tawny & my brothers share the same birthday & Tawny celebrated hers on Sunday afternoon.
I arrived late because of work but made it in time to still hang out & enjoy spending time w everyone.
For some reason I only took 3 pictures but I felt she deserved a birthday post.
I love ya lady...Happy Birthday, again!

everyone is leaving except me!

This was the 5th going away party in about 2 weeks...
Friday I stopped by & left Brandi's going away party about 5x.
I'm so glad i got to be there to give her a final farewell.  I've gotten used to hanging out w her regularly & will definitely miss the girl & all of her "crew's" ridiculous antics.
I've learned that when you step outside your comfort zone you allow yourself to be open to all kinds of awesome people.
Colorado, here she comes.

baby love

last week we celebrated my brother's birthday at some super casual restaurant & as predicted the star of the evening was my favorite little ball of adorableness.  i'm sorry, i couldn't resist posting some pictures.  i've become "that person" & i don't even have children of my own.

Love at...2nd sight.

I bought this leopard dress at a vintage store a couple years ago and found it hiding in my closet today.  Since its purchase I've tried numbers of times to wear it & have never been able to.  While bored today (see below post),  I decided to do some cleaning & reorganize my closets.  It was through that FUN adventure that I stumbled upon this & decided to give it another try.
I'm not sure if it's because I've slimmed down a little bit lately or if it's just the shoes, but I'm in love again & can't wait to wear this loud dress.
I love finding clothes I've forgotten about!
wooo.
(sorry I cut my face off...my hair is in my traditional pineapple bun with more little curls escaping than ever & i thought i'd spare that disaster)

i don't get it.

MTV has been rerunning the VMAs nonstop lately.
Finding little to choose from during this lazy thursday, I caught part of Lil Wayne's performance.
I get it, he's crazy, you don't want to mess with him, but this, this I don't get:
Unfortunately, I couldn't find a good shot of Lil Wayne's get up, but it was basically the above picture, only he chose to sport tight fitted briefs and somewhere along the way, lost his shirt.

Thanks, but no thanks.

bestypalooza

The weekend came and went far too fast.
Aside from the heat that I'd hoped I would've left in LA, SF was amazing.
Hanging out with B (& Gregory) provided a much needed break from my regular routine.  While there I also got to spend time with Gabby & her boyfriend Bryce as well as lunch with Jessica.  We attempted to shop and ate lots of good food.  Betsy's birthday dinner at Z's place was perfect, his views are worth every penny he pays for that awesome apartment.
Upon returning early this evening I went to see Vicky Christina Barcelona with my other Z.  Such a good movie.  Woody Allen's passion to explore every possible love story will forever enchant me.  Unfortunately I've now realized the iced coffee purchase before the movie was probably not the smartest bc I don't feel the least bit tired.

hut hut hiiike.

he's for real.
Friday night Betsy & I got ridiculously sweaty dancing to bad 70s mixed with some Snoop Dogg and some classic frat party hits.

serious business.
Z was so stoked on his margaritas, and to his credit, he did perfect the recipe.
bitches in the kitchen.
best views ever.

one tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor.

eat something.
gabbbbby!

...thanks to the photographer & everyone else for filling me in on my bra hanging out periodically through out the night!

Betsy's coming down for my birthday next month.
Shit will get crazy.

SF Bound

Yesterday I enjoyed being a lady who lunches with Dave.
After a trip to South Coast and bottle of wine at lunch we recouped a little and met up again to attend "the loop."
Considering I'd spent the week being mellow & resisting all tantalizing offers to "rage," I found myself kind of tired and called it a night relatively early.
No pictures today bc I'm too tired to upload & resize.
Now I need to go pack, pick up about 5 SF red bulls & head on over to LAX.
Betsy, here I come!!
