my new wall-e

I LOVE wall-e.  In fact, I can't believe that I haven't purchased it on dvd yet.  I waited so long for that movie, spent many aim conversations anticipating its release and watching newly released trailers.  I still remember how excited I was to go see it in the theaters.  I may now have to make some room in my heart for another adorable animation.

I have probably watched the trailer 3 times tonight.

January 21st Will Not Come Soon Enough

I cannot wait to start geeking out over my most favorite show ever.  In addition to LOST, January also brings a new season of Flight of the Conchords.  Sorry guys, you may not be seeing much of me-unless you choose to participate in my fantastic TV watching schedule.

On another note, I really, really wish I could get awesome, "feel better" gifts left at my door step every day.  There's nothing better than stepping foot outside your house to find a little bundle of amazingness awaiting your daily departure.  Ok, maybe not nothing, the arrival of my new Givenchy heels was pretty wonderful too. So in love.

birthday 767 & 768

Just when I think birthday season is over, 2 more pop up.  Last weekend we celebrated my friends Katie and Jessie's birthdays.

(This was actually from Thursday night's adventure, but whatever.)
Jessie's party had a 1920's/Speakeasy theme & almost everyone at the party was dressed in their 20's finest.

Who doesn't love a little karaoke?  (Especially when you're competing with some random Spanish gospel hour coming through the radio.)

Good job with your party Jessie, it was nice catching up with old friends.

In other news, my internet has been missing lately.  Sorry if it seems posts have been even less frequent than normal.  I feel so out of the loop!

the great escape

I've just returned from my trip to FL.  It was relaxing & beautiful...exactly what I'd expected it to be.  The flight there was a different story.  Please, heed this warning: DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT spend the night at a friend's house and drink copious amounts of clear alcoholic beverages the evening before an early morning flight.  No matter how much fun you're having, no matter how hilarious the game is you're playing, just say no.  Needless to say I felt like I'd been hit by a truck the next morning & kept my sunglasses on until I stepped out of the airport and into the warm Florida night.
At least I wasn't alone though, my brothers and I had great company, Wonky McValtrex and her "remaining BFFs" (from what my brothers have told me.)  Paris & her skanks sat just rows in front of us, I should've just asked her if she had any good hang over remedies.

(my dad attempting to give ian a few tips before walking over to the golf course.)

(my brothers are ridiculously better at bowling than i am.  i may or may not be a little resentful)

(pretty much how every night ended.)

(reminding him that i am his older sister & should be treated w the utmost respect-and allowed to win everything, everytime.)

Oh Florida.  The people watching-fantastic.  The weather-not as bad as some say.  The escape, much needed & appreciated.

Now back to some good 'ol LA/LB fun.  I've missed you guys.

the week of the historical election:

at the beginning of last week, a group that just would not stop growing, gathered to celebrate a friend's birthday.

thursday, following a ladies who lunch afternoon, we enjoyed the roof & i sat in on a VERY important business meeting.

and friday we celebrated paul's birthday.

no other events were documented, but i did my best to keep myself distracted this weekend.
i would love nothing more than to a)hear back from a certain interview i went on or to b) have one of the millions of resumes i've submitted receive a response.
i can do whatever i want right now, go wherever i want right now & yet this lack of structure has left me feeling so unfulfilled.  wa wa waaaaaa.

11-4-08!!!

Today is such an awesome day!  I hope all of you made it out to the polls to cast your vote.  Standing in the booth I felt like a child selecting my Christmas wish-list.  For the entire drive home I listened to NPR, awaiting the results from east coast states whose polling locations had began to close.  That feeling hasn't left, the one telling you to stay up at night to see what Santa leaves for us perfect little children : )  I am overflowing with hope & anticipation for Christmas morning.

Last night after a long evening of hopping all over the place, I offered to move a friend's car who was too drunk to move it himself.  He kindly accompanied me in the adventure since it was pouring and it being LB  means parking is generally impossible.  After finally finding a spot blocks away we somehow got turned around and ended up blocks off.  We ran and ran through the rain, soaked from head to toe & shivering.  My eye make up was running down my face and open toed wedges destroyed, but I cannot remember the last time I've had that much fun.  Jumping and splashing and laughing, yes, I was 7 again & I wouldn't have had it any other way.
The next time it rains do yourself a favor and go play in it, even if it is 4 in the morning.

EDIT**
Wooooooo. Christmas morning has come & it is a glorious one.  At 8:28pm before all of the states' electoral votes have even been counted, Barack Obama has been declared our future President with 333 electoral votes.  I've heard fireworks set off and people on my street yelling "Obama!!"
I could not be more excited or optimistic for what is yet to come.

just try and stay with me

"Your life is an occasion, rise to it."
So maybe it is Sunday evening, and maybe I am watching Mr. Mggorium's Wonder Emporium while simultaneously catching up on fashion blogs I've neglected over the weekend. And maybe I'm doing all of this in an effort to keep that smile I've had on my face all weekend while a new week is approaching and yet so much is left up in the air. Sometimes it's quite difficult to remain positive and happy because you feel you should, but I'm going to be honest and tell you all that I'm so excited and inspired by these beautiful jackets and shoes that I'm somehow forcing myself into a fantastic, distracted place.
For example, I just wish I could walk around in that amazing Margiela sweater all F/W long until everything had fallen into place perfectly.  Those who weren't amused or at least understanding could suck it.
Anyway, as my subject states, try and follow, this may seem all over the place, but bare with me.

First of all, I want my hair to look like this:
Second of all, I need a couple of amazing jackets for this F/W.  Last year I had some pretty solid staples, but I'm definitely ready to add to that.  This Alexander McQueen red officer's coat would work perfectly in my collection:

http://www.style.com/vogue/mostwanted/092508/

Then there is this Elizabeth & James Charcoal or Graphite, whichever you prefer, boyfriend blazer with three-quarter length sleeves that I could definitely use.
I would also love a cape-y jacket type deal.  This Marni one below is awesome.

Another thing I'm looking for this season is an awesome bolero, not this one specifically, I'd hope to find one in black, but I'm going to have to put my thrifting skills to use & hope I can find the jacket I imagine, preferably with a little less of the ruffles, after all, Halloween's passed and I'm not interested in taming a bull.

The last jacket that I believe would be so fun to have this F/W is a faux fur coat of sorts.  Don't worry, I will go with none before I will settle for a gross looking one, but I think I'd really like something like that, cropped maybe?  I'm not sure...I guess we'll have to wait & see!

Um and shoes.  There are easily 40 pairs of shoes on my "must have" list right now & these just made it on there.  Peep toed Chanel boots. (sigh,) ONE DAY!  I have all the rest of "must haves" saved in an inspiration folder but I will spare those of you who couldn't care less to begin with.

In addition, a friend sent me this link today & betsy, I think out of everyone that may happen to browse this blog, you will probably enjoy it the most:

cakewrecks.blogspot.com

I'm sure he had no idea I was bummed about anything either but it made me smile so thanks!

And there you have it, my random, sort of all over the place blog posting, enjoy it, or don't, whatevs. : )

the moment we've ALL been waiting for...

Our beautiful baby Sara is all grown up!  Saturday night a group of us went to Cobras for dinner where they didn't even card the birthday girl.  Of course that meant we had to go to a couple bars to make sure she got some good use out of her freshly legit ID.

Mel, examining the almond & olive starter.
Before the alcohol sunk in.
...as it was sinking in.

After it sunk in.

This was the first year we ever got her to actually celebrate her birthday.  Sometimes there's nothing better than being around your favorite people.
